We discovered that the pump in the septic tank wasn't working the hard way. I won't go into details, except to say it is messy and stinky!

Turned out that the power lines to the pump were shorting out somewhere under ground. Rather than trying to find the break, I decided to dig a new trench for new lines.

Unfortunately, while digging, I found the main power lines with my pick axe. I didn't sever them, but they did need a professional to fix them. One of the nice things about Montana is the lack of building codes, which means you don't have pesky inspectors slowing your work or driving the cost of your project up. Of course, the downside are things like shallow unprotected power lines and not knowing where they are. The lines came out of the ground under the deck with zero protection, and into the house without any sealant. So, it will cost me money to correct these things.

Kaia seemed to enjoy watching me work.
